Bay Area rap icon San Quinn is celebrating the July 19 release of Can’t Take the Ghetto Out a Ni**a in association with Prominent House Records and Select-O-Hits! The 18-track album features appearances from E-40 and various artists from San Quinn’s own Done Deal 772 Entertainment label.

A native of Oakland, San Quinn relocated to the notorious Filmore district of San Francisco, and began his career as a teen in the early ’90s alongside J.T. the Bigga Figga. He made his professional debut in 1994, when he contributed to the first two official Get Low releases, J.T.’s Playaz N’ the Game and the Get Low Playaz’s Straight Out the Labb.

Prior to that, Quinn had recorded an underground album, Don’t Cross Me, which was re-released by Get Low in 2000, and during his tenure with Get Low, he recorded the solo projects Live N Direct and Hustle Continues, both distributed widely by Priority in 1996. Quinn then moved on to teamed with Messy Marv on Explosive Mode (1998) and began recording solo albums for various independent labels, beginning with The Mighty Quinn (2001) for Champeli.

Between his solo albums, collaborative efforts, mixtapes and compilations, San Quinn has contributed to nearly three dozen full-length projects in his 20-year career. With the new singles “Big Bank” and “On dat Vodka” featuring E-40 and Goldy both picking up with radio, San Quinn is looking forward to developing his Done Deal 772 Entertainment imprint in the coming months.
