Crhyme Fam

One of the finer characteristics of this game we call Hip Hop, is its instinctual lean toward self-preservation. No matter how saturated the airwaves may be, there is always a new movement brewing under the surface. In 2005, that movement is being ushered in by In Ya Ear recording Artists Crhyme Fam.

Coming out of the Infamous Queensbridge housing projects, emcees Lord Black, Kashdro, and K. Dot used their legendary neighborhood to fuel the desire and drive to take it to the next level. “We grew up in the most famous projects in the world, a place that turns out the best rappers and some of the illest street shit you’ll ever see in your life,” explains Kashdro. “We had no choice but to come right. We had to rep the QB flag correctly.”

Growing up in that environment can take its toll, but they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. “We’ve been through hard times in this game for real,” says K.Dot. “People did bids, got seeds, some got left, but we stayed doing our thing. We had to at that point. It’s how we feed our families.”Even the name Crhyme Fam represents the everyday balance between the streets, the music and family.

Before they could prove themselves to the world, Crhyme Fam had to make their name known within the Bridge. “When you’ve got such intense competition in your own neighborhood like we did, it only helps you get better faster,” states Lord Black. When you’ve got artists like Mobb Deep and Cormega around you all day, you gotta stay on you’re A-game.” It wasn’t long before word got out and Crhyme Fam quickly secured a deal with In Ya Ear Records. In-house producer Ax the Bull set up their first street banger “Gangsta”, and things haven’t stopped since.

In 2005, Crhyme Fam is set to take over. Having just released their debut The EP XL and beginning to work on their full length LP, they are ready to take QB to whole new level. Not wanting to be pigeonholed into “the QB sound”, Crhyme Fam takes great pride in their versatility. This is showcased on their remake of Positive K’s “Gotta Man” produced by Psycho Les, as well as in some of their upcoming work with international producers.

The group continues to hold it down for their hood with joints featuring Prodigy and Alchemist as well.  This past summer, another famous QB alumni, Nas, got on New York’s Hot 97 and told the entire tri-state area to look out for Crhyme Fam. You can now consider yourself warned!
