Ladies Love NYC Presents Turn It Up Dilla – Lupus Fundraiser February 6 in NYC
Ladies Love NYC Teams with Lupus Foundation of America for highly-anticipated Fundraiser and Tribute for a Detroit Music Legend – J. Dilla! Some of city’s most talented women come together on February 6, 2009 to raise awareness for those impacted by the disease
Ladies Love NYC announced its partnership with the Lupus Foundation of America’s New Jersey Chapter to raise awareness and funds for lupus during an unforgettable evening of art, music and education. Bringing together a never-before-seen cultural collective some of New York’s most influential women, the event will pay homage to artist like J. Dilla, Michael Jackson and Seal, who have all suffered from lupus.
The Ladies Love NYC Lupus Fundraiser and Tribute event will take place on Friday, February 6th, 2009, from 10 pm – 3 am at Deity Lounge, 386 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn. Admission is $10 with RSVP to rsvp@ladieslovenyc.com. A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated on behalf of Ladies Love NYC to the Lupus Foundation of America’s New Jersey Chapter.

Created to impress even the most discriminating music and art aficionados, Ladies Love NYC’s Lupus Fundraiser and Tribute will feature:
• MC’s Jean Grae and Bless Roxwell
• A live performance Tribute to J.Dilla Featuring Nikki Glaspie (Sugamamas’) on Drums, Presented by Revive Da Live
• DJ sets by Brina Payne, Chela, Jasmine Solano, Tara (Rare Form), Mirandom and ILL P (Stone Kutters)
• Paintings by Lichiban and Alexandra Cespedes
• Photography and videography from Cee the Photographer, Elizabeth Allen (EMA Photography), Texas (THE NEW POP) and Tchaiko Owamale (My Fave Things).
The event’s DJ lineup will take guests on a journey with works and productions by one of Detroit’s late music legends, J. Dilla.
“As a Detroit native and certified music junkie, I was devastated when I learned of J. Dilla’s death as a result of lupus,” said Mary Pryor, Ladies Love NYC founder. “Our primary goal for this event is to increase awareness of lupus while educating the community on the amazing contributions that artists like JD have made, and continue to make, to the music industry.”

About The Lupus Foundation of American, New Jersey Chapter
The Lupus Foundation of America, New Jersey Chapter, Inc. (LFANJ) was founded in 1975
by five young women from New Jersey who were all affected by lupus. For the first 10 years,
the Organization was run exclusively by volunteers. Today, the LFANJ provides services to
more than 3,000 individuals a year. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to
enriching and improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by lupus.
Our primary mission is to educate and support those affected by lupus and find the cure.
