A pinch of jazz, a dash of pop, a teaspoon of alternative and cup of soul… that is the recipe that singer/songwriter JoBee blends to create each new song. He has already gained loyal fans around the world, from music lovers to music industry professionals. Super producer’s Cool and Dre recently co-signed the bright young entertainer’s efforts, stating: “JoBee has a unique sound and outstanding songwriting.”
On July 20, 2011, JoBee will release Irresistible Me, a Deluxe Edition Mixtape EP with appearances from a slew of fresh-faced vocalists and producers, including work from Vybe Beatz (Lupe Fiasco, T-Pain, Wiz Khalifa), New York commercial/TV scoring team Sinima Beats.
JoBee will also debut his new video for “After the Club,” offering some Summer-friendly visuals to the track. JoBee is currently in the studio preparing for his debut full-length album Vocal Stimulation, slated for release in early 2012.
Hailing from the resilient city of New Orleans, Joseph McKeel a.k.a. JoBee does his hometown proud as he stays true to his roots no matter where he goes. His vibrant sound has been bringing joy to people around the world, as JoBee currently resides in Kuwait, and performs regularly throughout Europe. “People everywhere know and appreciate good music,” JoBee explains. “The biggest difference in fans that I’ve encountered is only due to cultural differences.”
From smooth dance moves to his sensual Southern voice, JoBee definitely knows how to bring it for audiences who appreciate vintage R&B as much as they enjoy mainstream pop. Descending from a long line of singers, JoBee developed an obsession for writing, arranging and performing at an early age.
Deeply rooted in the church, JoBee is greatly influenced by Gospel music and the immense affect it has on people. He has also taken notes from Jazz, Rock, Reggae and World music to build his catalog. JoBee’s enticing falsetto, performance versatility and focused work ethic have helped him stand out in an era that truly needs timeless talent.
“My favorite thing about writing is being able to express the most intimate, innovative and creative inner thoughts in the form of a story or character to music,” JoBee says of his craft. “I do it because it’s my calling, and also because of how it evokes emotion in others when they hear that same emotion I’m projecting. On Irresistible Me, listeners can expect a rollercoaster – I want people to feel like they’ve been taken on an emotional journey.”
Irresistible Me has been several months in the making. JoBee’s first official single from the project, “After the Club,” debuted #27 in the United States MediaBase Urban Indie Chart, and received airplay throughout the Gulf Coast and Southeast United States. The single landed #6 on Internet Add Chart in July 2010, just two spots down from Trey Songz “Bottoms Up” featuring Nicki Minaj.
JoBee’s second offering from Irresistible Me, “Speaking In Tongues,” debuted on the Top 30 Urban and Pop Charts for the Most Adds for Internet, College and Satellite Radio, landing one spot ahead of Rihanna and Drake’s monster hit “What’s My Name” in November 2010. JoBee also captured the runner-up spot on SongOfTheYear.com for his song “Driving Me Crazy”.
As JoBee continues to record for his full-length debut album, he’s setting sights a little higher to aspire for longevity in his career.
“I want to be remembered as a legend in my own right, and as someone who always had a message in his music. I’m a man of God, integrity, love, family, diligence, and heart. As an artist, I hope that people can see that I give my all and pour it all out there in my music. Just listen to my music, and you’ll know who I am.”
